Important: Stotes Rules

by Tao Cheng, May 16 2012, at 06:25 AM PDT (0 Comments)

Dear LCBC Families:

The Stotes trip activities are in full swing. Families are dropping food items at the designated areas. Below are some additional reminders regarding the trip.

- All forms and payments should be in at this time.

- Athletes will be taking their one bag of luggage (UNI in luggage and don’t forget water bottles!) to the Erg shed Thursday morning before school for tagging and storage.

- Christine Espey will be there to receive medications.

- Athletes will meet at the erg shed Thursday to load their tagged bag onto the bus at 12:45.

- The bus will be departing Langley on Thursday at 1:00

- Any questions please contact Sharon Rosenthal (our fearless and priceless travel coordinator) at sharonbinrose@yahoo.com. (703) 975-3574.

Below is a reminder of the team rules. Of course, all FCPS rules apply but these are specific to this event. All parents and athletes should review and be familiar with them.

The weather will be awesome and competition tough. This is the largest High school Regatta event in the world. State teams are taking notice to what Langley Crew is capable of. This is the opportunity to show them at a regional and national level what we can accomplish. Go Saxons!

1. Team members may not drive under any circumstances. They must travel with the team bus or in cars driven by parents.

2. Team members must be in their rooms for good by 10:00 p.m. nightly, and lights out will be no later than 10:30 p.m. Adult chaperones will conduct room checks each night.

3. Noise should be kept to a minimum in rooms, lobby, and hallways in the hotel. No shouting, loud music, or behavior that could disturb other guests will be tolerated.

4. Team members must be fully clothed whenever they are outside their rooms and whenever there are guests in the rooms.

5. Team members may not leave the hotel without an adult chaperone.

6. Only members of the Langley Crew team, their parents/chaperones, and coaches are allowed in the rooms. Team members may only get together with other teams/individuals in the communal areas, including the lobby, the hallway, and social activities.

7. Possession or use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco products, and flammable objects (e.g. matches), regardless of intent, is strictly prohibited and will be considered grounds for dismissal from the team.

8. Team members in each room will have a designated number of keys to the room. They must keep the keys in their possession. Keys must never be given to anyone other than a team member or Langley representative.

9. Profanity or other foul language or pranks – even if they seem harmless – will not be tolerated.

10. Team members may not leave the practice site or evening recreational activity without permission from their coach. Parent chaperones must be notified before leaving the team site on the river.

11. Please note if a rower is removed from a boat for disciplinary reasons; there will be a partial refund minus $125 for administrative costs and hotel/restaurant guarantees.

12. Team members who violate these rules or otherwise behave poorly may lose their seats in future regattas or may be sent home (on public transportation, if necessary) at their parent’s expense. Parents or emergency contacts will be called before a team member is sent home for any reason.
